Make a Stylus for Your iPad with Just 4 Household Items

Materials

You will require a normal pen, make sure you remove the ink cartridge from it. Take a cotton bud and cut it diagonally. Make sure that the earbud should be cut diagonally about 100mm from the end; please do it very carefully. It will be better if you use a pair of scissors or a craft knife for cutting the cotton bud.

Assemble

Take the cotton bud and insert it into the tip of the pen where the nib generally sits. Well, it’s quite tricky as cotton bud’s stick is a bit thicker than ink cartridge, so you will have to adjust the size of the stem of the bud. It may take a few minutes, but it shall fit into the tip. Once you do it, the next step is to wrap the pan in foil. You can use the tin or aluminum foil paper to wrap your pen, but keep in mind that the foil should make contact with the cotton bud tip. After wrapping the foil, use some tape to secure it.

Dampen the Tip

After wrapping your pen, the next step is to dampen its tip a bit so that the pen can become conductive. In order to do this, you will have to dip the tip of the pen in water and squeeze off the excess. Make sure you only damp the tips not soggy, otherwise, water will get into your tablet or iPad. When you use this stylus for a longer time, the tip will be dried and your stylus will stop working. In this case, you will again have to dam the tip in order to make it work.

That’s all you had to do, now your stylus is ready to be used. You can even use cotton wool to make a stylus. For this, you will have to follow the below-mentioned steps.

First of all, take a normal pen and disassemble it, now cover it with foil paper and secure it with tape. Now take a small piece of cotton and put it into the pen nib hole. Now push the ink cartridge back into the pen, it will secure the cotton. Please don’t take too much or less cotton wool.

Now reassemble the pen, and make sure everything is nicely fit. You can trim or cut the ink cartridge if it’s necessary. Make sure that the tip of the pen is entirely secure and nicely fit into the nib. Now shape the cotton wool using a pair of scissors, dam it with some water, and you are ready to use it. Keep in mind, while you are damping the tip, you shall not use too much water.
